education

The Fashion & Textile Gallery offers a wide range of study services for people who want to find out more about the history of dress. Anyone can book a study table to look at a selection of objects from the collection, and a reading space to look at books on fashion history in the gallery's reference library or at archival material from the gallery collection.

The Fashion & Textile Gallery library contains the following material:

  • Books and publications on the history of dress and fashion accessories from the medieval period to the present day
  • Journals and periodicals such as Costume, Dress and Textile History
  • Fashion magazines
  • Fashion plates
  • Shop catalogues
  • Knitting and embroidery patterns

We welcome groups (maximum 8 people) as well as individuals, and can tailor-make sessions to suit individual interests.

The Library is open by appointment on Tuesday or Wednesday between: 10.00 -12.00 and 13.00 - 15.00.

There is a small charge for using the study facilities and it is essential to book. Please contact us by e-mail on bookings@ftgallery.com.au or telephone Charlotte on 0416 463 331 to book a reading space and/or study table.
