The Sewing Room.

We invite you to make yourself at home in the Sewing Room. A sanctuary for sewers, followers of fashion and lovers of fabric, buttons, vintage patterns, ribbons and braids, the love of sewing and design is the thread that brings us together.

The bright and busy Sewing Room is a place really worth visiting. Part sewing school, part design room, part meeting place, and a flurry of creativity, the Sewing Room offers domestic and industrial sewing machines, industrial overlockers, a huge cutting table, pressing equipment and dressmaker's mannequins. Equipment can be hired by the hour.

With increased nostalgia for the skills and crafts of our mothers and grandmothers as seamstresses, embroiderers, knitters there is a resurgence to relearn to craftsmanship and sewing skills of the recent past.

Join one of The Sewing Room's classes guided by experienced highly qualified instructors. We specialise in one-off sessions or short courses held on weekdays, evenings and weekends. The Sewing Room has sewing classes catering to all levels from the complete novice to the expert. Class sizes are small so everyone can benefit from personal attention.

There is even a sewing class specially designed for guys who want to learn to sew on a button or to alter their jeans. There are more advanced classes for people who want to create a tailored jacket and learn how to sew difficult evening wear fabrics.

You can come to a class to develop your fashion design skills, make your own patterns with our introduction to pattern making classes or simply learn how to change a pattern to fit you properly. We have classes that relate to all areas of fashion design, fashion history, fashion drawing, colour, textile manipulation and fabrication, photography and computer design.

In addition to adult sewing classes the Sewing Room will offer a school holiday program for children and young adults.
